BEAUTY

by: George Reston Malloch (1875-1953)

      EAUTY unattempted,
      She was my lover:
      To me, too blessed,
      Her white limbs did uncover.

      Eyes had fill of rapture,
      Lips had lips to kiss;
      Sought I to capture
      The deepest, deepest bliss.

      Then the fiery pang
      Smote through heart and core:
      Then the love song rang
      False, and rose no more.
