PATIENCE
by: Robert Hugh Benson
(1871-1914)
- I
- waited for the Lord a little space.
- So little! in whose sight as yesterday
- Passes a thousand years: -- I cried for grace,
- Impatient of delay.
- II
- He waited for me -- ah so long! For He
- Sees in one single day a loss or gain
- That bears a fruit through all eternity: --
- My soul, did He complain?
